Work From Home App – Update

Mike Pnematicatos, the CEO and Chief Architect at Merlin Software shares an update on how the Merlin team is responding to remote working on a permanent basis. And it is looking good so far! Mike also provides further information on Merlin’s new Work From Home WebApp.

Update 1: Merlin team and remote working

In my last article, I wrote about building working relationships with colleagues we never meet face to face because we all work remotely. I promised to update you as we were about to build a new team of software developers in India.

One month later seems pretty short, but we engaged our first Developer in India in that month. And our new Mauritian developer is starting in April. So how did the first month go for Avinash? I can best use his own words: 

“I was a little shy when I started work, but now I like all the people I am interacting with. They all are very nice.”

So it seems to be working. 

Update 2: Work From Home WebApp

In an article a few months back, I mentioned we were launching a new WebApp that will cater for all the needs of businesses whose staff work remotely. Our new team of developers will be working on this new Work from Home App.

In addition, we are building a new Member Services WebApp that will allow your Member Services Department to efficiently and effectively respond to the needs of your Members.

As a business owner and entrepreneur, there are many things you have to get right to achieve business success. One of the most important is ensuring your customers are well served, and another is selecting the right people to work with you and helping them be effective and efficient.

Training and empowering your team go a long way to making them effective in servicing your Members. But how do you make them efficient? Giving them the right tools is one way, and that’s where we at Merlin come into the picture. 

To help you, we plan to integrate our Work from Home App with the Member Services Web App. Each interaction with your Members will be automatically logged, and the time taken to resolve the issue will be recorded.

You will be able to monitor in real-time who is working on what and will also see who is available and what each team member’s work efficiency is. How many interactions do they have with Members each day? How long does each take? How much idle time do they have? 

But there is more. If used correctly, you will be able to step in and assist when a team member is struggling or taking longer than necessary to resolve an issue. Ultimately the objective is to be proactive when someone takes longer than they should to perform a task.

This is where the Work from Home WebApp will help you spot if someone is spinning their wheels and working less efficiently than they should. It will also allow you to intervene and help a Team Member if they are struggling without them having to call for help.
